On February 13, after celebrating a liturgy at the Patriarchal Monastery of Our Lady of Balamand, John X delivered a sermon in which he mentioned the tensions around Ukraine: “We pray for our situation (war in Syria), we pray for Ukraine because there is great tension, people are frightened by war. We pray for peace and tranquility, for the humility of the people, especially decision-makers, so that they make them for the benefit of the people.”

In addition, against the background of statements about money coming from Russia to the Polish Orthodox Church, the Patriarch of Antioch drew attention to corruption within the Church.
“Unfortunately, besides that, there are some church problems, both internal and universal, that create obstacles for people… It is unacceptable that the church was engaged in – God forbid – corruption or made unacceptable mistakes. Let’s reflect and analyze: what is the reason behind this corruption? What is the cause of these polyps? The reason is a person who stands out and fails to be humble. This is the greatest crime,” said Patriarch John X.
It should be recalled that the Metropolitan of Chalcedon invited the Patriarch of Antioch to a Pentarchy meeting. According to experts, the Pentarchy court may condemn the ROC’s Africa schism. It should take place by April 18. The ROC hopes that the Pentarchy trial will take place without the Churches of Jerusalem and Antioch.
