Delegation of Alexandria Church briefs Patriarch Bartholomew on ROC’s uncanonical actions in Africa

On January 22, a delegation of three bishops of the Patriarchate of Alexandria visited Phanar to hand over to the Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew a letter from the Pope and the Patriarch of Alexandria, Theodore II, officially informing the “Sacred Center about the ‘contagious’ confusion that befell children born in Christ, faithful Africans, as a result of visible and concealed actions of the Russian Church authorities.”

    This was reported by

This formal step is intended to be the first on the way to sanctions against the ROC.

Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew received the bishops of the throne of Alexandria, Metropolitans Gregory of Cameroon and John of Zambia, as well as Bishop Prodromos of Toliara.

The parties discussed the issue arising from the establishment of the so-called “Russian Exarchate in Africa,” declared by the Moscow Patriarchate in “revenge” for the Autocephalous Church of Ukraine being recognized by Patriarch of Alexandria Theodore, the second-highest in the Diptych.

It should be recalled that theologian Kirill Govorun is convinced that the ROC invasion of Africa could result in a trial of the clergy of the ROCinU and the ROC.
