Lukashenko calls for returning Ukraine into the bosom of “true faith”

The self-proclaimed President of Belarus, Alexander Lukashenko, has stated that Belarus must be in close contact with Russia, Ukraine, and Kazakhstan, and that Ukraine must be returned “to the bosom of our true faith.”

Speaking at a Christmas church in Minsk on the occasion of Christmas, Lukashenko said that nations such as Belarus would not be able to survive alone, Kommersant reports.

“That’s why I took a tougher course to preserve our sovereignty and independence so that we could be a nation. But we were in close contact with our closest friends and brothers. Who is this? This is Russia. This is Kazakhstan. This is Ukraine,” Lukashenko said.

According to the self-proclaimed President of Belarus, the people of Ukraine are “extremely deprived,” and “everything must be done to return Ukraine to the bosom of our true faith.” He criticized the autocephaly of the Orthodox Church of Ukraine and said that Belarus wanted to do the same in 2020.
