Vice Speaker of Russia’s State Duma proposed to remove Lenin’s body from Mausoleum

In Russia, a high-ranking official has once again called for the removal of the memorial cemetery from Red Square.

Vice Speaker of the State Duma Boris Chernyshov proposes that Vladimir Lenin’s body be removed from the mausoleum and properly buried.

“This is a cemetery where people lie, and one of these people doesn’t even lie there according to proper norms, including moral ones. I’m talking about Lenin. Red Square should have been freed from this burial complex a long time ago,” Vechernyaya Moskva quoted the MP as saying.

According to the legislator, it is time to let Vladimir Lenin, exhibited in the mausoleum, and tyrant Joseph Stalin, buried by the Kremlin wall, find peace “with all the relevant attributes.”

The publication informs that now in the Red Square, behind the mausoleum and by the Kremlin wall there is a necropolis where Stalin, Leonid Brezhnev, Mikhail Kalinin, Semyon Budyonny and Kliment Voroshilov were buried.

In turn, the Spiritual Front recalls that Russia is looking into the issue of running a nationwide poll on the removal of the body of the “leader of the world proletariat,” Vladimir Lenin, from the mausoleum. The survey could become a test of the future electronic voting system.

Also, in October 2020, the Russian Orthodox Church unequivocally stated that sooner or later the Soviet leader’s body would be buried.
