On St. Nicholas Day, on which children get various gifts according to a Ukrainian folk tradition, representatives of the Orthodox clergy visited the Sviatoshynsky boarding school in Kyiv.
The Exarch of the Ecumenical Patriarch, Bishop Michael of Koman, and the clergy of the Orthodox Church of Ukraine Kiprian (Khimyak) and Viktor Martynenko handed out gifts to the children studying there.
As Bishop Michael noted on his Facebook page, when honoring St. Nicholas, we must not forget to follow in his footsteps in matters of charity, and that there are many opportunities to this end.
“Come and visit. Believe me, from talking with these shining nice children you will receive great spiritual consolation. And who has the opportunity to help in any way – God will thank you!” said the exarch.
In turn, Hieromonk Kiprian thanked the Exarch of the Ecumenical Patriarch of Ukraine, Bishop Michael, for his attention to children and sincere conversation with them.
“… Thank you for the gifts that made these children happy today. Happy St. Nicholas Day!” the hieromonk said, sharing his joy.
