Today marks anniversary of episcopal ordination, name day of Ecumenical Patriarch’s Exarch Bishop Michael

In ancient Constantinople (present-day Istanbul), a year ago, on November 8, the episcopal ordination of Archimandrite Michael to Bishop Michael of Koman (Anishchenko), Exarch of the Ecumenical Patriarch, took place. It was performed by Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew, who was accompanied by Metropolitan Oleksandr of Pereyaslav and Vyshneve (Drabynko), Bishop Matviy of Volodymyr-Volyn and Turia (Shevchuk), and bishops of the Ecumenical Patriarchate.

Also on this date, Bishop Michael of Koman celebrates his name day.

On November 8, 2021, the Exarch of the Ecumenical Patriarchate, Bishop Michael of Koman (Anishchenko), celebrated the Divine Liturgy in St. Andrew’s Church, according to the Ecumenical Patriarchate’s Stauropegion in Ukraine. In his sermon, the exarch drew attention to the Christian commandment to love one’s neighbor.

“Today we have two holidays coincide: the memory of the holy great martyr Demetrius of Thessalonica (old style) and the memory of the Heavenly Forces of the Incorporeal and the Archangel Michael (new style). So today we can say is a double feast, so we want the Lord to intercede for us all with the prayers of these saints, to bless us, to give us strength to live Christian lives and to keep this commandment that we heard today in the Gospel that the Lord gave his students: ‘Love one another.’ Let’s try as much as possible on our part to love one another. God bless you,” said Bishop Michael of Koman.
