By founding its diocese in Armenia, ROC worsens relations between Tbilisi and Moscow, which will positively influence OCU recognition – expert

Religious expert Oleksandr Yefremenko jas shared his thoughts on the hysteria created by the Russian Orthodox Church over its fiasco in the international arena.

In particular, he cited the example of the ROC’s intervention in Armenia, which he said would lead to a deterioration in relations between the Georgia and Moscow patriarchates, which in turn could push the Georgian Church to recognize the Orthodox Church of Ukraine.

“… [T]he fact that a Russian diocese was set up in Armenia came as a bad omen in relations between the Moscow and Georgian Patriarchates. With such a move, Moscow has actually planted a time bomb in its ties with Tbilisi. Moreover, it’s Moscow that it will strike primarily as it may lead to the recognition of the Orthodox Church of Ukraine by the Georgian Patriarchate, which will drive yet another nail in the coffin of both the Amman 2.0 and the entire ‘Russian world,’” the expert wrote on Facebook.

Earlier, Georgian media wrote about the establishment of the ROC diocese in Armenia as another ROC invasion of the Georgian Church’s jurisdiction, while religious expert Oleksandr Yefremenko noted that the ROC was irritated by the Ecumenical Patriarch’s visit to the United States.
