Metropolitan Epifaniy: Crimea issue constantly on my agenda because Crimea is Ukraine

On October 20, the Primate of the Orthodox Church of Ukraine met at his residence with representatives of the National Council of Ukrainians of Crimea Andriy Shchekun, Serhiy Mokreniuk, and Andriy Ivanets.

The meeting was also attended by Metropolitan Klyment of Simferopol and Crimea. The talks focused on the systematic violation of human rights, including those of the OCU faithful and clergy in the temporarily occupied Crimea. The parties also discussed the Crimea Platform summit, actions and public initiatives aimed at supporting illegally held Kremlin prisoners.

That’s according to the OCU press service.

Separately, the parties touched upon the issue of countering the Russian occupation authorities in their efforts to destroy historical monuments across Crimea, in particular as regards the situation of the Tauric Chersonesos Reserve.

“The Crimea issue is constantly on my agenda, almost no meeting with representatives of other nations and Ukrainian politicians takes place without discussing the situation in the temporarily occupied territories. We will continue to do everything we can to this end because Crimea is Ukraine and this can’t be changed because the truth is solid,” said Metropolitan Epifaniy.

Earlier, Metropolitan Epifaniy said that, if Christian ethics is not taught in schools, it’s prisons that Ukraine will have to build.
