The head of the Roman Catholic Church, Pope Francis, plans to visit Ukraine next year.
This was stated in an interview with the Polish edition of KAI by Mieczyslaw Mokszycki, Archbishop-Metropolitan of Lviv, Chairman of the Conference of Roman Catholic Bishops of Ukraine.
“I have learned that the Holy Father (Pope) is planning such a visit for next year,” the bishop said.
In March 2021, during a meeting with Pope Francis, Prime Minister of Ukraine Denys Shmyhal extended to him an invitation from President Volodymyr Zelensky to pay a visit to Ukraine to mark the 30th anniversary of independence.
In July this year, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky had a phone call with His Holiness Pope Francis. “First of all, the people of Ukraine are waiting for the visit of Your Holiness,” the Head of State said at the time.
