On September 23, 2021, in the assembly hall of the Kyiv Orthodox Theological Academy of the Orthodox Church of Ukraine, a training session was held for military chaplains of the OCU on the topic of spiritual support for HIV-infected military servicemen.
The session was organized by the Synodal Department of Military Clergy of the OCU, jointly with the International Institute of HIV/AIDS and Tuberculosis NGO and the Command of the Medical Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, with the support of the PEPFAR program.
Metropolitan Epifaniy of Kyiv and All Ukraine, who personally attended the seminar, noted the great importance of the event. His Beatitude discussed with the participants the issue of spiritual care for servicemen, as well as measures to combat the spread of HIV / AIDS.
According to the press service of the Kyiv Metropolis of the OCU, at the end of the exercise, Metropolitan Epifaniy, together with lecturers and the head of the Synodal Department of Military Clergy, Metropolitan Ioan of Cherkasy and Chyhyryn, presented military chaplains with the relevant certificates.
