    Metropolitan Epifaniy, monks from Mount Athos co-celebrate liturgy in Lviv region

    His Beatitude Metropolitan Epifaniy of Kyiv and All Ukraine led the Divine Liturgy in the Holy Trinity Church in the ancient city of Sudova Vyshnia, Lviv region, on September 11, 2021, on the Feast of the Beheading of John the Forerunner.

    The Primate of the Orthodox Church of Ukraine was assisted by Metropolitan Macarius of Lviv, Metropolitan Demetrius of Lviv and Sokal, Archbishop Hilarion of Rivne and Ostroh, Archbishop Yevstratiy of Chernihiv and Nizhyn, Archbishop Agapit of Vyshhorod, Hieromonk Seesoy and Hierodeacon Pachomius from Xenophontos monastery, Mount Athos, and Hieromonk Nikitos from Pantokrator Monastery, Mount Athos, as well as local and invited clergy, according to the OCU press service.

    After reading the Gospel, Metropolitan Epifaniy addressed parishioners with the word of the Primate.

    Later, an all-Ukrainian prayer for an end to the devastating plague (epidemic) was delivered.

    During the Divine Liturgy, the Primate offered prayers for Homeland defenders who laid their lives for the freedom and independence of Ukraine.

    After the liturgy, His Beatitude Metropolitan Epifaniy thanked Metropolitan Macarius, head of the Lviv Diocese, presenting him with a panagia, presenting a Primate’s cross to the rector of the church, Archpriest Ioan Tyndyk, and handing church awards to local church benefactors.
