The Primate of the Orthodox Church of Greece, Archbishop Ieronymos of Athens and All Greece, together with Archbishop Chrysostomos of Cyprus, on June 11 inaugurated a new cathedral in Nicosia, dedicated to the founder and patron of the Church of Cyprus, Saint Barnabas the Apostle.
In an interview with the Fileleutheros newspaper, he touched upon the ROC attitude to the autocephaly of the Orthodox Church of Ukraine, orthodoxtimes.com reports.
“We must maintain the unity of the Church in every way. That is why I am sure that in the end, unity and consensus will prevail and we will all be on the same path of love. […] With humility, the Church remains prosperous and solid for thousands of years and this path I would suggest we follow. All those with divisive logic do not help the Church either, much less their future,” said Archbishop Ieronymos.

It should be recalled that in April 2021, the ROC demanded that the Greek Orthodox Church stop mentioning the name of the Primate of the Orthodox Church of Ukraine, Metropolitan Epifaniy, during services. The Synod of the Hellenic OC also asked to limit the activities of the metropolitan, who preached conspiracy theories.
The Greek Orthodox Church recognized the autocephaly of the OCU on October 12, 2019.
