A spokesman for the Orthodox Church of Ukraine, Archbishop Yevstratiy (Zorya), pointed out that the name of the unrecognized “DPR” organization was not put in quotation marks in a report published on one of the propaganda resources run by the Russian Orthodox Church in Ukraine.
This implies their sympathy for terrorists, the spokesperson suggests.
“The SBZh-Raskolamnet Holding has shown sympathy for terrorists. The outlet, affiliated with the Moscow Patriarchate in Ukraine, exposed itself with some peculiar sympathies: they put the word “hierarch” in quotation marks to emphasize non-recognition of the clerical position, but “DPR citizenship” was posted with no such quotation marks or any other symbols. They therefore recognize the existence of such a ‘republic’ and its ability to grant ‘citizenship,’” the OCU spokesman, Archbishop Yevstratiy, wrote, commenting on the headline of the news piece alleging that one of the OCU hierarchs holds “DPR” citizenship.
“I wonder how much their source has paid for that fake ‘passport’” the OCU archbishop wondered, concluding his Facebook post.
It should be recalled that the spokesman for the OCU earlier commented on Russian President Vladimir Putin awarding ROC’s Hilarion (Alfeev). We also reported that ROC propagandists were spotted spinning fake news aimed to denigrate the Hellenic Church.
