Russia sees less than 1% of population go to church on Christmas

Approximately 1.4 million believers attended Christmas services across the Russian Federation. This is despite the fact that the leader of the ROC constantly boasts of Russia being an “Orthodox country,” claiming that the ROC is the world’s largest Orthodox church.

The Ministry of Internal Affairs reported the low attendance of churches on Christmas.

“Some 1.4 million people attended Christmas services in 5,900 settlements across the Russian Federation,” said Irina Volk, Spokeswoman for the Russian Interior Ministry, MVD Media reports.

Given the total population of just over 144 million, it can be estimated that Christmas services were attended by about 1% of the population.
