The Security Service and the National Police exposed one of the clerics with the UOC (MP) in the illegal alienation of one of the temples in Kyiv region.
This is about the temple and outbuildings with an area of almost 500 m² in one of the villages of the Boryspil district. The property, estimated at UAH 7 million, belongs to the local community, the SBU reports.
According to the case file, the archimandrite initially “donated” the church buildings to his sister. After acquiring the rights to real estate property, the latter transferred them to a charitable fund controlled by the rector.
Through an affiliated entity, the cleric planned to single-handedly dispose of the community buildings, being formally entitled to sell them to third parties or illegally lease them out.
The cleric has been charged under two articles of the Criminal Code: Part 5 Article 191 (embezzlement, seizure of property through abuse of official position, committed on an especially large scale); Part 1 Article 366 (forgery).
The investigation is underway. The perpetrator faces up to 12 years in prison.
Earluer, the SBU searched the office of Metropolitan Antoniy (Pakanych) of the UOC (MP).
