Pope Francis: I pray for victims of bombings in Ukraine

At the conclusion of the general audience, Pope Francis recalled that the this Saturday, January 27, marks the International Day of Remembrance of the Victims of the Holocaust.

This is reported by Vatican News.

“Let the memory and condemnation of this terrible extermination of millions of Jews and people of other faiths not let everyone forget that the logic of hatred and violence can never be justified, because it denies our humanity,” the Holy Father emphasized. “War in itself is a denial of humanity. We will continue to pray for peace, for the end of conflicts, for the renunciation of weapons, and for help to the suffering population.

I think about the Middle East, Palestine, and Israel, about the disturbing news coming from the long-suffering Ukraine, especially about the bombings that affect sites visited by civilians, causing deaths, suffering, and destruction.

I pray for the victims and their loved ones and call on all, especially those who bear political responsibility, to preserve human lives by ending wars. Let’s not forget that war is always a defeat, always; only arms manufacturers profit.”
