In a posting on Facebook, the head of the OCU, Metropolitan Epifaniy, explained that anger and hatred toward evil can be an effective weapon in the fight against the devil and sin.
According to the hierarch, indignation and resistance to evil is a manifestation of virtue because, if we silently came to terms with evil, it would only spread further.
Metropolitan Epifaniy emphasized that in the context of Russian aggression, Ukrainians should hate the ideology of the “Russian world” and the crimes committed by the invaders, but not the people personally. To defend truth and repel evil, using force is justified, and it is not against the concept of Christian love.
The Primate called on Ukrainians to hate the sins and crimes of the enemy, but to draw strength to fight evil from love for God, Homeland, and neighbors.
