On August 15, the head of the OCU met with the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Federal Republic of Germany to Ukraine, Mr. Martin Jaeger.
At the outset of the meeting, His Beatitude Metropolitan Epifaniy congratulated the distinguished guest on his appointment as Ambassador to Ukraine and thanked him for the significant assistance that Germany had been providing to our country at a difficult time in confronting Russia’s ongoing full-scale aggression, reports the OCU press service.
Also during the meeting, the parties discussed continued cooperation in charitable and humanitarian projects, the religious situation, including in the temporarily occupied territories, the role of the Church in strengthening Ukrainian identity, continued international support for our state, and Ukraine’s path to the EU and NATO.
Martin Jaeger assured the hierarch that Germany would continue to help Ukraine in the fight for freedom in multiple areas.
In response, Metropolitan Epifaniy noted that it is very important for us, and that Ukrainians, as spiritually strong and indomitable people, will continue to fight as long as it takes, but in this unequal struggle, we desperately need constant support of like-minded people.
