On May 23, a presentation of the facsimile edition of the Mazepa Gospel was held at the Museum of Books and Printing at the Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra.
It is symbolic that with this publication, Ivan Mazepa returned to the Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra, which he built and supported, says the press service of the Metropolitan Volodymyr Memorial Fund.
The event was attended by Ambassador of Ukraine to Lebanon in 2016-2022 Ihor Ostash, Vicar of the Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra Archimandrite Avraamiy Lotysh, a publishing project manager Maryna Burdeyna.
During the presentation, a fragment of the documentary entitled “The Gospel of Mazepa” premiered.
A facsimile of the Mazepa Gospel was printed in 2021 with the support of the His Beatitude Metropolitan Volodymyr Memorial Fund, the V.I. Vernadsky National Library of Ukraine, and the Embassy of Ukraine in Lebanon. The Kyiv copy of the Mazepa Gospel was found by the Ambassador of Ukraine to Lebanon, Ihor Ostash, in the National Library of Ukraine.
“The Book of the Honest Immaculate Gospel, the Lamp that Shines and Illuminates” or the Mazepa Gospel, was printed in 1708 in the city of Aleppo at the expense of Hetman Ivan Mazepa. In this way, the Hetman supported the believers of the Antioch Patriarchate at the request of their Patriarch Athanasius Dabbas III.
