The abbot of one of the churches run by the UOC (MP) in the Synelnyky district of Dnipropetrovsk region is now in custody on charges of justifying Russia’s armed aggression and supporting the occupation of Ukraine.
That’s according to the local prosecutor’s office.
According to prosecutors, after the full-scale invasion, the abbot has been posting on social media anti-Ukrainian comments to YouTube videos, justifying armed aggression. In addition, in intercepted phone calls, the abbot was heard expressing support for Russia’s occupation of the territory of Ukraine and the holding of sham referenda on accession top Russia.
Under the procedural guidance of the Dnipropetrovsk Regional Prosecutor’s Office, indictments against two Ukrainian nationals were forwarded to court under (Article 436-2 Part 1-3 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).
The pre-trial inquiry was run by the SBU Office in Dnipropetrovsk region.
