Russian missile hits building on UOC (MP) monastery premises in Odesa

As a result of yesterday’s attack by Russian troops on Odesa region, one of the missiles hit the building located on the territory of the men’s monastery.

That’s according to Natalia Humenyuk, head of the joint press center of Ukraine’s Operational Command South, who spoke with the journalists at the scene of the strike, Ukrinform reported.

“The enemy launched a missile attack on Odesa using warplanes. Three guided missiles were fired by Su-35 fighters. Two of them were destroyed by our air defense systems and one hit a three-storey building belonging to the Ukrainian Orthodox Church. Four people were injured in the men’s monastery. One person was hospitalized, three sustained minor injuries,” she said.

This is about the Iversky monastery of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church (in unity with the Moscow Patriarchate).

Humeniuk noted that the destruction is quite significant. About 200 square meters of rood were affected. A fire broke on an area of about 40 square meters, which was promptly put out by firefighters.

“In this way, the Russians tried to avenge the blasts in Crimea’s Dzhankoy, the head of the press center suggested.

She also recalled that precisely such point strikes at the outset of the full-scale invasion characterized the attacks on the south of Ukraine.
