At its meeting on February 2, the Holy Synod of the Orthodox Church of Ukraine decided to create the Bila Tserkva Diocese within the administrative boundaries of the relevant district in Kyiv region, thus separating it from the Kyiv Diocese.
“The diocesan bishop – the head of the Bila Tserkva Diocese – shall hold the relevant title,” says the Synod decision.
According to the voting, His Holiness Archbishop Yevstratiy of Chernihiv and Nizhyn was elected head of the diocese, being dismissed from the post of head of the Chernihiv Diocese.
Also, according to the vote, Bishop Antoniy of Boryspil was elected Bishop of Chernihiv and Nizhyn, being dismissed from the post of Vicar of the Kyiv Diocese.
