On Monday, January 23, His Beatitude Metropolitan Epifaniy of Kyiv and All Ukraine began his first official visit to Rome.
As part of the delegation of the All-Ukrainian Council of Churches and Religious Organizations, the head of the OCU will take part in a meeting with Pope Francis and a number of heads of institutions of the Roman Catholic Church responsible for inter-Christian and inter-religious dialogue, interaction with Ukraine and information dissemination, the press service of the OCU reported on its website.
The metropolitan is accompanied on the trip by Archbishop Yevstratiy of Chernihiv, deputy head of the Department of External Church Relations and member of the Secretariat of the Orthodox Church of Ukraine.
In addition to the meetings in the Vatican, the delegation will be present at the prayer for the unity of Christians, which will be performed by Pope Francis in the Basilica of the Apostle Paul on the occasion of the corresponding week, which is celebrated by the Christian Churches.
There will also be a meeting with the Ambassador of Ukraine to the Holy See Anrdii Yurash and a visit to the spiritual center of the UGCC in Rome, the Cathedral of Saint Sophia.
