Russian President Vladimir Putin announced a “special operation in Ukraine” as it was necessary.
This was stated by the head of the Patriarchal Council for Culture of the Russian Orthodox Church, Metropolitan Tikhon (Shevkunov) of Pskov and Porkhov, who is considered to be Putin’s closest clergyman, in an interview with Rossiya 24 TV channel.
According to the metropolitan, the reason for the start of the “special operation in Ukraine” was “circumstances vital for Russia.” The metropolitan also noted that he knows Putin personally and is sure that he would not take such a serious step without a good reason, the TV channel reports
“As a non-military person, it is difficult for me to understand all the reasons behind launching the SMO. But I personally know Russian President Vladimir Putin. Under other life circumstances for Russia, he would not have started the SMO. That’s why it was necessary,” Putin’s cleric suggested.
He added that right now it is extremely difficult to explain or understand the events that are unflolding, and only time will put everything in its place.
