Metropolitan Epifaniy meets with Polish, Czech officials

The Primate of the OCU, Metropolitan Epifaniy, met with parliamentarians and government officials from Poland and the Czech Republic.

On February 24, 2025, Metropolitan Epifaniy of Kyiv and All Ukraine met at his residence with the Chairman of the Committee on Foreign Affairs of the Polish Sejm, Commissioner of the Polish Government for the Restoration of Ukraine, Pawel Kowal, and Charge d’Affaires of the Republic of Poland in Ukraine, Piotr Lukasiewicz.

The parties discussed support for internally displaced persons from Ukraine, as well as international and inter-church relations. In addition, the parties discussed assistance to Ukraine from Poland, the Russian aggressor’s attempts to use the religious factor in the war against its neighbor, and other issues of shared interest.

On the same day, the Primate of the Orthodox Church of Ukraine received at the Metropolitan House Chairman of the Czech Senate’s Committee on Foreign Affairs, Security and Defense, Pavel Fischer, and Chairman of the Standing Commission of the Czech Senate on Compatriots Abroad, Tomasz Černín.

During the conversation, the parties discussed inter-church relations, the process of establishing the autocephalous Orthodox Church of Ukraine in the conditions of Russian aggression, the establishment of spiritual support for Ukrainian refugees through the Mission of Chaplaincy Assistance to OCU faithful who are temporarily outside Ukraine as a result of the war.

They also discussed the protection of the state in conditions where Russian destructive influence is spreading through religious institutions, exploiting freedom of religion as a cover, and other topical topics.
