Archbishop Elpidophoros of America released a prayer on the occasion of the U.S. Republican National Convention. In his address, the hierarch called on the Almighty to bless the gathering of the country’s political leaders and grant them enlightened hearts and minds to serve their fellow citizens.
This is reported by the Spiritual Front of Ukraine with reference to the archbishop’s post on Facebook.
Separately, the archbishop prayed for presidential nominee Donald Trump, his advisors and councelors, asking for God to grant them “wisdom, grace, and the spirit of duty”.
Archbishop Elpidophoros also asked that politicians be able to embrace the needs of all Americans, shining the light of good government upon the venerable institutions of “the world’s best hope” for everyone’s life, liberty, and pursuit of happiness.
The prayer mentions the Convention delegates, for whom the archbishop asks for a powerful recognition of purpose and to bear witness to Divine Providence.
He prayed that the Lord preserve, protect, and defend the Service men and women who daily safeguard the Amercians’ freedoms, the freedoms of Americans every day, “so that in prosperity and tranquility we can worship You, the Creator, Redeemer, and Sanctifier of the Universe, and be the blessed People whose God is the Lord.”
It should be recalled that the Exarch of the Ecumenical Patriarch in Ukraine took part in the prayer on the occasion of Ukrainian Statehood Day.
