People’s Deputy Oleksandr Kachura met in the Stauropegium of the Ecumenical Patriarchate in Ukraine with the Exarch of the Ecumenical Patriarch, Bishop Michael of Koman, and Metropolitan Hilarion of the UOC of Canada.
The lawmaker reported this on his Telegram channel.
Kachura conveyed his greetings to Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew and thanked him for participation in addressing the issues of the exchange of prisoners of war and the return of Ukrainian children. The legislator also noted the importance of the presence of Patriarch Bartholomew at the Peace Summit as evidence of support for Ukraine’s aspirations for a just peace.
The main topic of the meeting was the discussion of ways to achieve reconciliation and unity of Ukrainian Orthodoxy.
It should be recalled that in 2023, Metropolitan Hilarion was appointed head of the official synodal commission of the Ecumenical Patriarchate to facilitate the said processes.
