Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew confirms participation in Global Peace Summit

Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew confirmed his participation in the Global Peace Summit that is being convened by Ukraine.

One of the most influential leaders of Orthodoxy stated this in a phone call with the President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelensky. The head of state informed the public of the call via X.

“The Ecumenical Patriarch confirmed his participation in the Global Peace Summit, which is highly symbolic for us,” the president wrote.

Volodymyr Zelensky emphasized that Kyiv appreciates the important contribution the Ecumenical Patriarchate is making toward the restoration of a just peace in his country.

Earlier it became known that the Pope was also invited to the Global Peace Summit. The event will take place on June 15-16 in Burgenstock, Switzerland. Up to a hundred countries are expected to participate, except for Russia, which was not invited. The Ukrainian “Peace Formula” will be discussed at the summit. The Formula, which consists of 10 points, was put forward by President Zelensky back in 2022.
