Russian propagandists are circulating yet another fake report across media platforms about the alleged destruction of more than “70 churches of the canonical UOC” in Kyiv.
That’s according to the Center for Strategic Communications and Information Security.
The fake news claims the Kyiv City Council is planning to demolish the churches run by the canonical UOC, and that the target list includes more than 70 buildings. Bulldozers are already working in Vinnytsia region, the report falsely adds.
In fact, there have been no news, statements, or petitions regarding the destruction of religious buildings on the website of the Kyiv City Council.
Search word UOC shows a news item dated April 20, 2023, reporting a motion from the Kyiv City Council to the Cabinet of Ministers and the National Security and Defense Council to take urgent measures to terminate lease contracts fort he use of state-owned religious buildings, earlier signed with the UOC MP. And there is not a single word about the destruction of temples,” the report says.
Neither did journalists find anything similar on the website of the Vinnytsia City Council.
