The Ukrainian Orthodox Church of the USA was recently honored with Ukrainian state awards in recognition of its efforts to provide humanitarian aid amid the ongoing war.
President Volodymyr Zelensky conferred on Archbishop Daniel the Medal for the Defense of Ukraine. The Church also received awards from the Minister of Defense and Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine for defense assistance and aiding the Army, according to the Church’s website.
These awards are in recognition of the UOC of the USA’s contribution to the provision of humanitarian aid during the war in Ukraine. The Church has been actively donating food, medical, and accommodation assistance to those affected.
Metropolitan Anthony thanked for the awards and emphasized the unity and solidarity of the UOC of the USA in serving the people. Archbishop Daniel expressed humility and gratitude on behalf of the entire Church.
