In the temporarily occupied territories, the Russians continue to oppress believers of various denominations.
Thus, in the Russia-captured areas of Zaporizhzhia region, the local “administration” compiled a list of churches that were allowed to conduct a Christmas service in line with the old calendar (January 6-7). That is, all disloyal churches were restricted and in fact banned from serving, reports the Center for National Resistance.
The monitors noted that the Russians oppress representatives of all denominations except the Kremlin-controlled Church of the Moscow Patriarchate. Russian priests are being deployed to the temporarily occupied areas to strengthen control over the religious situation.
The Center for National Resistance notes that propaganda and service to the enemy equates to collaborationism, which is punishable under the Criminal Code of Ukraine. Perpetrators will not be able to avoid accountability, the Center stressed.
It should be recalled that a temple under construction in Kyiv region caught fire as a result of Russia’s missile strike.
