The aggravation of the situation of the attitude of Ukrainians to the church of the Moscow Patriarchate was observed last year, after the scandal with the UOC MP in the Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra. It is noted that in December 2022, about a third of the residents across the region considered themselves parishioners of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church of the Moscow Patriarchate, and today this figure has decreased to 7%.
This was reported by the Yug.Today news agency.
It is worth noting that there has been a significant increase in the number of those who do not profess any religious views, especially among younger people. So, indeed, given the exposure by law enforcement agencies, almost half of the respondents agree that the activities of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church of the Moscow Patriarchate contributed to Russian aggression.
Therefore, since 2021, there has been a positive trend among residents of the region switching to the Ukrainian language in everyday life. Currently, 42% speak Ukrainian at home, while in 2021 it was only 26%. However, the majority still prefers the Russian language.
It should be recalled that the Ministry of Culture and Information Policy declared the liberation of Ukraine from the “Russian imperial evil”.
