Today, November 12, Pope Francis greeted a group of monks of the Basilian Order of St. Josaphat and Ukrainian pilgrims in St. Peter’s Square in the Vatican.

Ukrainians came to Rome to celebrate the 400th anniversary of the martyrdom of St. Josaphat.
“I warmly welcome the pilgrimage of the Ukrainian faithful and Basilian monks, I see here and there Ukrainian flags that have arrived from different countries to mark the fourth century of the martyrdom of St. Josaphat. Together with you, I pray for peace in your suffering country,” the Pope said and then turned to all who listened to him: “Brothers and sisters, let’s not forget about the martyred Ukraine, let’s not forget about it!”
After the “Angel of the Lord” prayer with Pope Francis, the Ukrainian parishioners went to St. Peter’s Basilica, where at 13:30 Roman time, the solemn bishop’s Divine Liturgy began, led by His Beatitude Sviatoslav Shevchuk, Head of the Ukrainian Greek Catholic Church.
