South Korean President Yoon Suk-yeol and First Lady Kim Keon-hee paid an unannounced visit to Ukraine.
The couple visited the site of mass killings in Bucha just outside Kyiv, and then a residential area in Irpin, which had been hit by large-scale missile attacks.
In Kyiv, the two visited St. Sophia’s Cathedral, and also learned about with the history and architectural features of the monument of Ukrainian culture.
In particular, they were told about the unique frescoes and mosaics that decorate the interior of the temple.
First Lady Olena Zelenska of Ukraine discussed with Kim Kong Hee the issue of protection of Ukrainian cultural heritage amid Russian aggression.
The spouses of the two presidents also visited the Center for the Protection of Children’s Rights where the children who witnessed war crimes or survived deportation get the required assistance.
