In St. Michael’s Golden-Top Cathedral, the Primate of the Orthodox Church of Ukraine, Metropolitan Epifaniy, consecrated 12 icons, which were painted on armor plates brought from the battlefield.
The consecration took place within the framework of the “Spiritual Victory” project by ArtArmor, reports Ukrinform.
“This is the first series of plates. They are not just plates, they were brought from the front. They saved the lives of our defenders. On some of them, we put images, that is, paint. At the same time, we decided to make a series of icons. In order for more people to have the opportunity to find out what it is about. It is about creativity, about art, about uniting people, the Armed Forces, and government through faith, faith in victory, faith in God. All this is depicted on armor plates,” said Oleksandr Kovalchuk, co-founder of the “Ukraine for Heroes” charitable foundation.
He noted that the consecrated icons will be sent to the USA next week. According to him, it is planned to initiate prayer breakfasts there, where people will be able to donate for new protective equipment for the military.
It is noted that consecrated icons are presented to representatives of foreign partner countries as a thank you for helping Ukraine in the fight against the aggressor.
