UOC (MP) cleric spotted at Kremlin Sabbath charged with collaborationism

The abbot of the men’s monastery of St. Sava the Consecrated (UOC-MP) in the temporarily occupied Melitopol was charged with collaborative activities.

The cleric in question is Archimandrite Ioann (Alexander Prokopenko), who last year took an active part in a propaganda event Forum of the Public Movement We Stand with Russia in Melitopol. There, he expressed support for the occupiers and backed the actions of the aggressor state, the Prosecutor General’s Office reports.

Archimandrite Ioann (Prokopenko), together with Metropolitan of “Luhansk and Alchevsk” with the UOC (MP) Panteleimon (Povorozniuk), last September took part in a coven in Moscow – where the “accession” of the Russian-occupied parts of Kherson, Zaporizhzhia, Luhansk, and Donetsk regions to Russia was declared.

Archimandrite Ioann (Prokopenko) also “blessed” the “authorities” in the temporarily occupied part of the Zaporizhzhia region to speed up the holding of the sham “referendum”.

Oleksandr Prokopenko was notified of the suspicion under two parts (5 and 6) of Art. 111-1 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (collaborative activity). He faces up to 12 years in prison.
