Russian invasion troops shelled the areas of Chernihiv region bordering the Russian Federation.
Ukraine’s northernmost village of Hremyach once again came under enemy fire on May 1. In the aftermath of the strikes, former building of the Church of the Nativity of the Virgin caught fire. The vestibule completely burned down and the roof was destroyed.
This is reported by RISU.
This prayer house was built in 1947, in the difficult post-WW2 period, to replace two churches destroyed in the village by communist atheist authorities, and remained active until 2014. More than one generation of residents of the village was baptized, married, and led to the last journey there.
The building of the active Church of the Nativity of the Virgin, consecrated in 2014, was also damaged – the door was knocked out by the blast wave.
