During the general audience on Wednesday, April 26, Pope Francis called on the faithful to pray for Ukraine.
This was stated by the Minister of Foreign Affairs Dmytro Kuleba to the Italian TV channel Sky TG24, as quoted by ANSA.
“We’ll meet the Pope with open arms, Ukraine stands with the Pope for peace. Our invitation is still valid, it is a permanent open invitation, he can come at any time,” said Kuleba.
According to the minister, he does not know why the Pontiff has not yet come to Ukraine. According to Kuleba, there are negotiations going on with the Vatican, and the invitation has not been rejected.
Kuleba added he was convinced that people in Ukraine would be very grateful and happy to welcome Pope Francis during this period.
