ROC Synod refuses to establish Eucharistic communication with newly ordained Archbishop of Cyprus

At its meeting on March 16, the Synod of the Russian Orthodox Church claimed it “impossible” to commemorate the Archbishop George of New Justiniana and all Cyprus “in diptychs, prayer and Eucharistic communication with him, as well as with those hierarchs of the Church of Cyprus who entered or will enter into communication with the Orthodox Church of Ukraine .

This is reported in the ROC Synod journal.

Earlier, the Synod of the Russian Orthodox Church stopped commemorating the name of Archbishop Chrysostom II of Cyprus, and also interrupted communication after he recognized the Orthodox Church of Ukraine.

“Newly elected head of the Orthodox Church of Cyprus, Archbishop George of New Justiniana and all Cyprus, following his predecessor, who has passed away, continued the commemoration of the leader of the Ukrainian schismatics (the head of the OCU, Metropolitan Epifaniy – ed.),” the statement reads.
