On Thursday, March 16, His Beatitude Metropolitan Epifaniy of Kyiv and All Ukraine received in his residence, the Metropolitan House, the Commander of the Ukrainian Army’s Joint Forces, Lieutenant General Serhiy Naiev.
The meeting was also attended by the head of the Center for Moral and Psychological Support of the Joint Forces Command, Colonel Yevhen Kovalenko, military chaplain Boris Kutovyi, and Secretary of the Synodal Department of Military Clergy, Archpriest Oleksiy Honcharenko, the press service of the OCU reports.
During the meeting, the parties talked about repelling the ongoing full-scale invasion and the extraordinary role that the chaplains play in the Army. The head of the autocephalous Orthodox Church of Ukraine also thanked the defenders for their sacrificial service, wished them strength and stability of spirit, and invoked God’s blessing on them.
In addition, His Eminence handed priest Boris Kutovyi a mandate entitling him to serve as a military chaplain.
