The security service conducted an exchange, during which a priest with the Ukrainian Orthodox Church (in unity with the Moscow Patriarchate), who turned out to be a Russian asset, was exchanged for 28 Ukrainian prisoners of war.
This was reported by a Ukrainian lawmaker Yaroslav Zhelezniak, referring to the head of the Security Service Vasyl Maliuk, who spoke in the Verkhovna Rada, Ukrainian News reports.
MP noted that during a parliamentary Q&A session with Maluk, one of the lawmakers asked hims about UOC (MP) and the ongoing investigation.
“The SBU keeps exposing enemy agents sporting priest cassocks. Fifty-two criminal proceedings, 19 charge papers, and six court verdicts. There are also those whom we exchanged: one enemy asset in a cassock was exchanged for 28 of our soldiers,” Zhelezniak quotes the head of the SBU as saying.
As reported earlier, the Verkhovna Rada appointed acting head of the Security Service of Ukraine, Vasyl Maliuk, to the position of agency chief.
