Metropolitan of Lutsk and Volyn has commented on the decision of the Constitutional Court of Ukraine regarding the law mandating the renaming of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church (in unity with the Moscow Patriarchate), the press service of the diocese reports.
“We express our sincere gratitude to the Constitutional Court for its statesmanlike position. We understand that the judicial branch of government does not interfere in church affairs, but expresses its direct position. Everything must be put in place and clear accents must be made. Therefore, we are glad that there is political will of all branches of government on this issue,” said the head of the diocese.
The Eminence also calls on all clergymen and laymen of the UOC (in unity with the MP) in Ukraine to unite with the OCU into a single local Ukrainian church. “It is not necessary to come up with additional names to hide in the desire to help the invader, to be Ukrainians in form, and Muscovites in content,” the bishop emphasizes.
