Irpin mayor calls on U.S. religious organizations to help rebuild town

Speaking in the city of Nashville (Tennessee), the mayor of Irpin, Oleksandr Markushyn, called on the religious organizations of the United States to help Ukraine restore the war-torn town.

Markushyn announced this on his Telegram channel.

“If every church community in America takes responsibility for the restoration of one small house in Irpin, then within a year all private housing stock in our city will be rebuild,” he said.

During the “Nashville Consultations” initiated by the international organization “Mission Eurasia”, leaders and representatives of various religious organizations discussed assistance to Ukraine.

The educational center of this organization was located in Irpin, which was destroyed in March 2022 during active hostilities.

“I sincerely thank the president of Eurasia Mission Serhii Rahuba for the invitation and opportunity to tell religious leaders about Irpin, our fight, our victory, and most importantly, to ask for the help of the U.S. church communities in the reconstruction of our town. My special thanks to People’s Deputy of Ukraine, co-chairman of the parliamentary group of friendship between Ukraine and the USA, Maryan Zablotskyi, for helping organize working meetings in cities across the U.S.,” Markushyn wrote.

“I believe that church communities can become our reliable partners in helping ordinary people from our town of Irpin,” he concluded.
