    Patriarch Bartholomew expresses support for people of Ukraine as he meets Olena Zelenska

    On October 2, Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew received Olena Zelenska, the spouse of Ukraine’s President Volodymyr Zelensky.

    This was reported by the website of the Ecumenical Patriarchate, according to the Spiritual Front of Ukraine.

    The First Lady was accompanied by the Head of the President’s Office Andriy Yermak, First Deputy Prime Minister of Ukraine Yulia Svyridenko, Deputy Head of the President’s Office Andrii Sybiha, Ambassador of Ukraine to Ankara Vasyl Bodnar, Consul General Roman Nedilskyi, employees of the President’s Office and associates.

    During the meeting, His Holiness once again expressed the support of the Ecumenical Patriarchate to the Ukrainian people, who have been severely tested by the war, who with vigor and determination are defending the territorial integrity of their homeland, and expressed hope that the war would soon end and peace would be restored in Ukraine.

    Olena Zelenska thanked His Holiness for his concern and support for the people of Ukraine.

    Previously, the First Lady of Ukraine visited the Pansept Patriarchal Church, where the Ukrainian-born Ierol. Patriarchal Deacon Mr. Epifanios Kamianovich, who acted as interpreter, briefed her about the church’s history and the relics kept there.
