From the very beginning of Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine, Pope Francis wanted to talk with Patriarch Kirill of Moscow about a very clear idea – to jointly speak out against the war.
This was stated by the Apostolic Nuncio to Ukraine, Archbishop Visvaldas Kulbokas, who spoke in an interview with Focus.
“But we saw that there was no such readiness on the part of Patriarch Kirill. Even after quite a long video call in March. I don’t know exactly how the conversation went, but I know from all the interviews that it wasn’t easy. And there is no result either,” said Kulbokas.
