During a general audience, Pope Francis urged everyone not to get used to living as if war were something remote that is of no concern.
This was reported by Vatican News.
At the end of the general audience on Wednesday, June 15, 2022, Pope Francis spoke again about the suffering of the people of Ukraine. Welcoming various groups of pilgrims, before addressing the young, the elderly, the sick, and the newlyweds with a special greeting, he raised his head and impromptu said:
“Please, let’s not forget about the long-suffering people of Ukraine who are at war. Let’s not get used to living as if war is something distant. May our remembrance, our love, our prayer and our help always be close to these people, who suffer a lot, experiencing true martyrdom.”
