On May 31, 2022, the head of the local Ukrainian Orthodox Church accepted in his residence Taras Kremin, the Commissioner for the Protection of the State Language.
This was reported by the press service of the Kyiv Metropolitanate of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church (OCU).
The parties discussed the threatening situation as regards the restriction of the Ukrainian language in the territories temporarily occupied by the Russian invaders, which has pronounced signs of linguicide.
In addition, the parties discussed cooperation on the introduction of language courses among parish communities for IDPs who are willing to improve their knowledge of the Ukrainian language.
