In his sermon after the festive Easter service, Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew called for the unblocking of humanitarian corridors in the Ukrainian cities of Ukraine, as well as for the evacuation of citizens from Mariupol, the city besieged by Russian troops.

Bartholomew called for an immediate end to Russia’s war against Ukraine, which undermines human dignity and is a provocative violation of the Lord’s commandment to love one’s neighbor.
“Tonight our thoughts with the martyred Ukraine and in all corners of the earth where violence and human dignity are prevalent… Let’s ask the Resurrected Savior that this Easter be a stimulus to open humanitarian corridors, safe passages to really safe areas for thousands of people encircled in Mariupol. civilians, wounded, elderly, women, and a large number of children. The same applies to all other regions of Ukraine, where an unspeakable human tragedy is unfolding,” said the Ecumenical Patriarch.
The service took place at the premises of the Ecumenical Patriarchate in Istanbul, after which the Bishop addressed a sermon to Christians and congratulated them on Easter, and also spoke about the situation in Ukraine with words of support.
