The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine will not pass legislation prohibiting the activities of the Russian Orthodox Church in Ukraine (the so-called UOC-MP).
This was stated in an interview with RBC-Ukraine by Parliament Speaker Ruslan Stefanchuk.
“We have long been discussing the issue within our political factions and groups. And despite the fact that everyone has their own internal decision made, we agreed that during the war we have no right to pass any law that may split Ukrainian society,” the official explained.
He explained that any law that appears these days, which allows even the slightest chance of splitting society, provokes the emergence or expansion of a network of collaborators.
“We will deal with everyone after we achieve victory,” the head of the Ukrainian parliament announced, adding that a proper assessment of everyone’s actions amid war would soon be provided.
