While in Chernihiv on April 10, the head of the Orthodox Church of Ukraine, Metropolitan Epifaniy, addressed the faithful with a sermon on the topic of war. He noted that the Russicsts are preparing for the Ukrainians the same fate and torture, which they subjected them to in Bucha and Mariupol, but the Ukrainians will definitely win because God is on their side.
“The enemy had been preparing for Chernihiv and Kyiv, and is still preparing for the whole Ukrainian people, the fate of Mariupol, the fate of Bucha, the fate of Yahidne and Novoselivka, and other cities, towns and villages of our Motherland, where they moved in. Seeing the suffering, destruction, brutal violence, and spread of death that Russia brings to every corner of Ukraine it is still able to reach, we understand even better that only fighting off the aggressors, expelling them from our land can bring us a just peace,” stressed Metropolitan Epifaniy, according to the OCU press service.
He noted that after terrible weeks of the Russian siege, daily shelling and bombardments, Chernihiv and the entire Siversky area are returning to freedom, if not final peace (because an embittered and insidious enemy remains close).
The Primate emphasized the signs of the anointing of icons, which testify that in this struggle, the power and mercy of God is with us, with the Ukrainian people.
“Through the miraculous carving of peace on the icons of His Blessed Mother and the saints, the Lord is a confirmation of what we always believe: He is with us in this struggle, because we fight for truth and good, against demonic resentment and tyranny. And if the Lord is with us, then who can resist Him? Therefore, we believe that our people will overcome all current challenges and Ukraine will achieve victory. For this we offer our prayers, for this we fight and work. And may God bless us all with success! Amen!” Metropolitan Epifaniy summed up.
